MENDOCINO COUNTY TREES



Margaret, Nancy and I went in search of what we had been told is the world’s tallest tree, a redwood growing in Montgomery Woods State Reserve between Mendocino and Ukiah on the Comptche-Ukiah Road. We found the tree after an hour’s walk into the forest.  It is majestic.  We were not disappointed even after learning that there are somewhere in California two trees taller than this one.  The Montgomery Woods tree, said to be 320 feet, stands proudly among many others almost that tall… impressive enough.
