A drive around Clear Lake is a drive through the geologic history of the planet.  The lake is nearly 20 miles long and at one point it's 8 miles wide and is said by geologists to "sit" on a huge block of stone.  They also say it is the largest "natural" lake wholly in California.  Lake Tahoe is partly in Nevada.  Clear Lake is said to be one of the oldest lakes in North America and is judged by its sediment to be around half a million years old. The landscapes between Clear Lake and the Pacific Coast are varied and consistently spectacular.  We took Highway 20 all the way from Yuba City to Fort Bragg.  You'll find after the picture of Cousin Sue's house,  an image that I got not far from her front door.  I'm wondering if anybody can tell what it is.
