It's easy to see the Earth as organic and alive in the Central Valley of California especially at this time of year.  I got this picture today on the west side of the valley where the Coast Range of low mountains separate the San Joaquin Valley from the Salinas Valley. The hills are covered already with their annual tawny fur coat that won't be shed until the winter rains transform them again to emerald green. You can feel Mother Earth breathe and sigh here.

Margaret and I drove to Santa Cruz (University of California) to see Jeremy today. He is an example of what happens when all the pieces come together right.  He and his friends and his university program are altogether the perfect fit...
