A couple of new concepts in cameras… by SONY.  A few weeks ago I got the QX100, a camera which is designed to be paired with a smart phone.  It’s a great idea that actually works very well primarily because of its 1-inch sensor behind a Zeiss lens bundled with sophisticated controls.  I’ve been eagerly anticipating the debut of another SONY, the RX100M3, with the exciting components of the QX100 but one that doesn’t need a smartphone to be workable.  I got it yesterday, and decided to go out to the Hang Glider port perched on a bluff above Black’s Beach northwest of the UCSD campus.  The camera is tiny, 4 X 1 X 2.25 inches, and besides the sophisticated components like the Zeiss lens and the 1-inch sensor, it has a viewfinder.  I like it.
