The preacher insists that God communicates.
No metaphor implied, he said God speaks
from mountain tops to some with roaring thunder
and to some from valleys with a still small voice.
Pretending something is there when it isn’t verifiably there
is perhaps helpful in hard times or even in good times if
no one who can be touched, maybe held and kissed, is
close enough to reach with longing arms and hands; but,
God talking from mountains?
I think I’ll see what this flower has to say.
