Donna Parry, sister-in-law of our son David, hosted Margaret and me at Hillwood, the Washington home of the late Marjorie Merriweather Post.  The mansion was designed to be home and museum for Mrs. Post’s extensive art collection. Of course, we enjoyed the tour of the mansion with it’s beautiful Russian and French artifacts, but the miracle of the place is the landscaped 25-acre estate on a site in the middle of the District of Columbia overlooking Rock Creek Park. That this very wealthy heiress left the estate and the collection to be enjoyed by all people gives me hope that the one percent of Americans who now control ninety-six percent of wealth in this country will begin to fund projects that make life better for all people.
