Matt and Katy...
Also from yesterday... just to prove that the Loch Ness monster really does exist...
Blair Castle is the seat of the Duke of Atholl. What I kept thinking the whole time we were walking around the castle and grounds was how lucky the Dukes over the centuries were not to be school teachers. Imagine what English-speaking kids would do with a name like Atholl.A piper plays in front of Blair Castle every morning at eleven o'clock.A member in good standing (for about ten seconds) coming out of the very exclusive Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews.
Remember that great running on the beach scene from the movie Chariots of Fire... This is the beach where it was filmed. The old Saint Andrews Cathedral was damaged by a storm several centuries ago... the neighbors saw that it wasn't going to be restored so they took most of the stones to build houses leaving these spectacular ruins at the edge of the Firth of Forth just down the street from the University.
The University of Saint Andrews is ancient... as details of buildings in the following photographs show.
