Hidden from all but the most determined eyes, one of the most spectacular and least accessible sections of California coastline hugs the Point Loma peninsula between Sunset Cliffs and the lighthouse at the entrance to San Diego Bay. Heading out there today with Michael, I expected to see perhaps a dozen surfers; but the perfect weather and high surf had coaxed several hundred people out to the area, so we had to search for a parking place. For the photographs below, I was using a wide angle lens that slightly curved the horizon and didn't pick up the wet-suit dots out by the big waves.
