Strelitzia...simple, stark, stunningly shocking beauty
happens, but not often in nature or in art;
I am obsessed with the South African Crane Flower,
which in San Diego is known as the bird of paradise.
It blooms all the time, but in October and November
it dazzles, stop bees and birds in their flight
who dare not linger, I think for fear of annihilation
or paralysis in the presence of outrageous power.
