THEOLOGY... rethinking

History is full of instances of people using one or another of the Gods they've invented as excuse to do whatever serves their purpose. It is estimated that of the 7.3 billion people in the world today, almost 2 billion are Muslims. Of the total number of Muslims in the world it is estimated that 42 million support ISIS.  A long range planning committee of those in leadership positions of ISIS have developed a plan for growth and development of their movement.

ISIS has extracted and developed a theology of rape which has been enshrined into Islamic culture.  It isn’t true that Islamic culture around the world has reassembled itself around the idea that sexual slavery is an important part of God’s plan for drawing everybody in the world under the umbrella of Islam; but as a stratagem for excusing what some ISIS members, especially men, especially young men wanted to do anyway, it should be no great surprise to any Christians who insist that the Old Testament and even parts of the New Testament should be taken as rationale for some of the weird, even perverse, strategies for establishing a Christian Caliphate.  After all, slavery as an institution in America was ended only a couple of years before my Grandfather Abraham was born in 1868. In the part of the South where I was born grown men sometimes gathered with their white sheets after dark to scare the hell out of people of color, and kill them if they thought they could get away with it, because The Bible told them it was O.K.

David had eight wives.  You can read all about how one of them, Chaggith or Haggith, got his attention by dancing.  Solomon 7:1-2.  “How beautiful are your dance-steps in sandals, O prince’s daughter!  The swaying our your hips are like jewels, the work of an artist’s hands.  Your navel is a well-rounded basin which never lacks mixed wine; your belly is like a heap of wheat encircled about with lilies.”  So there you have it.

According to the Bible Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.  Saul had just one wife, but he had “slave-concubines” according to the Biblical record. Slave-concubines were sex slaves.
