Sometimes the competition of pictures for the photo du jour award is no contest. Today is such a day, so I can post the photo early. I met up with Dave Yoshida for coffee this morning, and he brought along a friend, Queenie. They were a natural for the award, together and separately.

The flowers brighten the corner at Hazard Center Drive and Friars Road. Don't ask! If you don't live in San Diego, you won't know and will wonder what kind of center is a "hazard." When I bicycled across the country a few years ago, I wondered when I passed the road sign that pointed to the place what kind of town is Hazard, Kentucky.
