I went over to the Balboa Park Rose Garden to look for pictures for my friend Susan's project... and I struck out.  The rose bushes have been trimmed, and I had to search the area to find a few straggler blossoms.  I got some vivid images of thorns.

I said in yesterday's BLOG post, "SAN DIEGO’S GOT IT…"
YEP!  WHAT IT HASN’T GOT IS RAIN.

Maybe this is a good time to come in from the fantastic summer weather we’re enjoying in San Diego and put our unseasonably warm weeks in January with no rain in sight on a list of unusual weather events that are occurring regularly all over the world… and perhaps it’s an appropriate time to insist on calling what’s happening  “climate change” and to discontinue using the misleading term “global warming.”  Check the record high temperatures in Australia’s summer and the unusually cold storms in parts of America.   Check the extremes of weather in all parts of the U.S. and all over the world in all seasons.

An alarming number of representatives and senators, notably on the Republican sides of the aisles, are saying climate change is natural, not caused by human activity, and should be left “in God’s hands.”  I’m voting for trusting the conclusions of scientists and not  the opinions of politicians like Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rep. Rodney Alexander of Louisiana, Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, and a long list of others including San Diego County’s own Republican representatives Duncan Hunter and Darrell Issa.

It’s no surprise that San Diego’s representatives Susan Davis and Scott Peters who are Democrats have no trouble whatsoever trusting science. It’s also worth noting that the climate change message based on research and not opinion is direct and clear from San Diego’s Scientific community.

The Tampa Tribune quoted Senator Rubio as saying “The government can’t change the weather.  I said that in the speech. We can pass a bunch of laws that will destroy our economy, but is isn’t going to change the weather. —— — I don’t think there’s the scientific evidence to justify it…”  The it in Senator Rubio's sentence stands for "the profits of corporations that would be interrupted and adjusted if they had to adjust to the reality of climate change and stop their pollution of natural environments."

Michelle Bachmann said in a speech on the House floor, “Carbon dioxide, Mister Speaker, is a natural byproduct of nature. Carbon dioxide is natural. It occurs in Earth. It is a part of the regular lifecycle of Earth. In fact, life on planet Earth can’t even exist without carbon dioxide. So necessary is it to human life, to animal life, to plant life, to the oceans, to the vegetation thats on the Earth, to the, to the fowl that — that flies in the air, we need to have carbon dioxide as part of the fundamental lifecycle of Earth.”  She and several others have said the weather is God’s issue, not man’s; so we shouldn’t question His Wisdom.
