Snails are a great mystery to me. The pattern and design of a snail's shell would be a challenge to recreate in a workshop or an art studio. Look closely near the top center of the photograph above and you'll see the snail in the crease of the tree. I lifted it out and laid it on a dried leaf to get the picture below. This one has no housing problem, and seems to find plenty to eat in our yard.
The small bird, I think it may be a wren, hangs around the hill where I live. It visits a bird feeder I keep on the back porch. Besides the sugar water I provide, I don't know what other food it finds in our backyard.
