the calculus of living
in Singapore or Smolensk
or Saigon to say nothing
of Sapporo or San Diego
has little to do with
physics or geometry
whether or not
figuring the radius
of a flower
you use a slide rule

the circumference
of a wedding ring
has little to do with
happiness or love

explaining
subjunctives
helps nobody

nominative absolutes
in any language
have no value

neatly kept numbers
in grade books
are dead

Maybe Tolstoy was right

Loved those words, the circumference of the wedding ring was especially interesting to me. And the photos, it just shows me how much more I have to learn.
