HAPPY BIRDDAY! Well, the hatching occurred a couple of days ago. I noticed on Saturday that she was sitting higher on the nest, but I saw them for the first time today. I decided today would be a good day to get the pictures without disturbing the mother. She now leaves the nest occasionally to get food for herself and for them. This is the third year she has come back to the exact same hanging planter just outside my window. The male hangs around... but isn’t much help until the eggs hatch. Now that they are hatched, he brings food to them, too. They don't bring worms The adults eat insects and seeds and I guess worms and turn them into crop milk which they regurgitate into the eager little mouths.
