Callistemon or Bottlebrush

These common brush-trees on our hill are native to Australia. They are in full bloom now. The red blossoms attract bees and hummingbirds. In Australia the tree is also known as callistemon. It is obviously easy to grow in a warm, sunny place where the soil is moist. The soil is moist in our area because we irrigate with water from Northern California and from the Colorado River.
