WORLD VIEW
There are seven billion people now on this Good Earth. When I was born there were only two-and-a-half billion. One billion of us are going to be hungry today. The panel below came out of an old Chinese cabinet. I got it and the panel (from the back of an ancient chair) for almost nothing at the pasar malam on Orchard Road sometime between 1969 and 1973. Both pieces were probably already at least a hundred years old when I found them. If they could talk, they could tell stories of how several generations lived , probably first in China and then on the Malay Peninsula. Now they hang on the wall in a hallway in our apartment in San Diego. I wonder where they will be hanging a hundred years from now.

How interesting is that? Yeah, if they could only speak. Beautiful pieces.
