Abstract expressionism, an art form that flourished in the middle of the last century, captured my attention and wouldn't let go. Abstract expressionism rejects literal visual representation. It has few recognizable images with great emphasis on line, color, shape, texture, value; putting the expression of the feelings or emotions of the artist above all else. A eucalyptus tree in my back yard, one that I watch from my living room, is the perfect subject for abstract expressionist photography. Every year at this time it sheds its outer skin. Today I got my photo du jour and several more pictures just watching that tree. The negative images were made in PhotoShop. It's not my fault if you insist on seeing a dinosaur or a rabbit in the photographs.
