How about a little respect for trees...

Across from the Air and Space Museum at the West End
of the Automotive Museum stands a once noble Ficus cluster.
What is the impulse, I wonder, that comes over the people
who can's resist carving onto its trunk their names
and initials and symbols of
their affection?

Interesting how none of the major religions beginning with Christianity teach little or nothing about caring for trees and other plants and wild life....stewardship of mother earth....which is our common footing......the focus is the sin of people........about the care and treatment of people.....how to build community and yet nothing about stewardship of mother earth....

Mother earth will outlive us as she has done with other earlier civilizations of people.....earthquakes, tornados, floods, and so on are not God made(A god made by people for people) rather mother earth maintaining balance within the globe.....and yet in Oklahoma I heard man blaming God for his ills....

So it may be too late to forge an alliance with mother earth as she will never fail us and is not the cause of earth kill....it is we, via the combustible engine and other poisonous actions that will kill civilization...denial runs thick with people on what we are doing to poison ourselves....earth will outlast all of us and restore over time the poisoned aquifers that hold precious water which is losing its crystal....and so on....

A book to read is 1491 to get clues about mans failure to care for the earth...and consequences....

I would say a little respect is too little....and maybe too late....

something to think about...

Could it be that trees are strong, live a long time. They are just there. Perhaps we have a metaphor.
