Watching Crows
Watching crows dodging traffic successfully
getting whatever in the road they want
I wonder why it is a man on the curb
sitting beside his grocery cart overflowing
not with the stuff it was designed to hold
cannot dodge slings and arrows of outrageous
you know what... Is it a matter of luck?
no place here for the concept of fortune...
to come to this despair... utter downness
barely if at all remembering youth and joy
and soft kindness with warm bread buttered
for him by a mother never guessing birds
would get what they want and need but he
would get edges and crumbs of loneliness

Beautifully written about a sad situation. The crows look happier and that's too bad.
