My friend Clyde Yoshida uses brushes to apply paint to canvas. He makes marvelous art. I go out from home into the world every day with a camera and try to see things I've never seen before. My aim is not to make art but simply to record what I see in a way that may make someone else see it, too. Today I was fascinated by a long slit in a palm tree in Old Town San Diego.
