We are staying for three days at Napflion at an ultra-modern hotel literally made from an ancient citadel above a beautiful harbor. I did a panoramic shot with the little Sony... after sundown. It’s amazing what that little camera can do. Nafplion had served as an important harbor since 1500 years B.C.
Everyday more history... We spend the day in  between Corinth and Nafplion mostly in that great plain that stretches back from the Bay of Nafplion to Mycenae to the north and through the hills to Epidavros. The big outoor theater at Epidavros is exiting for several reasons. For one thing, it’s huge: 15,000 people can be seated (and heard) comfortably and they can hear the actors easily. It was also at this place where people 3500 years ago came from far and wide seeking medical cures. It was here that the snake first became an important medical symbolism.
From Epidavros we drove to Mycenae, Agamemnon's hill fortress. This is one of the places that everybody, especially every boy who has ever read the Odyssey or the Iliad, will feel at home. All the stories about any part of the Trojan War start and end here.
