JOY... and sadness:  Margaret and I got home from two weeks traveling and have settled back already into regular routines. The jacaranda trees are in full bloom. Today we enjoyed an unusual May rainfall. Everything seems clean and bright, but I am sad. My dove is gone. Her eggs are gone from the nest. It’s too early for them to have hatched, so something terrible happened while I was away. There are no broken shells in the nest, so whatever varmint stole the eggs took them whole. I’ve watched for her all day today, but the little mother hasn’t returned. A couple of summers ago she did two hatchings, so maybe she will come again.
