MONDAY, MAY 4
When I drive up from Los Angeles to the top of the Grapevine at Tajon Pass and start down to the Great Central Valley of California from Lubec, I always think about what this "outrageously large and wild place" must have seemed to the first settlers from the Eastern United States who came upon it and tried to figure out how to get down to the vally floor. I helped the vision along today by rendering my photo-for-the-day in black and white.
