PHOTOGRAPH FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3
This plant is sometimes called a Christmas cactus, and I’ve heard it called a Thanksgiving cactus. Whatever it is in North America, in Brazilian jungles it is recognized as an epiphytic cactus. The jointed flat segments are easy to root. Both of mine, the big mother plant and the almost-as-big offspring, are in full bloom a month before Thanksgiving. Maybe it’s global warming.
