JONES BEACH STATE PARK, LONG ISLAND

Before Labor Day Jones Beach is one of the most crowded places on the East Coast...even on weekdays. Today, Wednesday, the fourth day of October, the beach was deserted except for a few senior citizens. I thought how quaint that is until, in a brief moment of self realization, I remembered that I am one. Being out in the world midweek is a great pleasure.
