the man took so long getting home
There’s a lot to see out here
in the world
and from what little I can gather
about Penelope back home
she was pretty damned
resourceful
and could take care of herself
and maybe a few others
not that I want to start rumors
or anything

so let’s just change the subject
and refocus on Odysseus and
why he didn’t go home

It’s a little like writing
you do one run-on sentence
and like the feel of it
and just keep right on
with another and then
another and you realize
you’re talking to yourself
about anything and everything
and you hear the singing
and you decide
no not actually decide
it just happens
you go to check it out
and who could resist
