Wish you’d been there to see and hear this young man play the cello in Balboa Park… and to watch his audience: two young mothers in their mid-twenties and their sons, two infant boys no more than eight or nine months old.  The babies in their strollers and and the mothers squatting on the floor beside them listened as if nothing else in the world mattered. When he came to the end of the piece he was playing he quietly acknowledged them and me.  It was a concert I shall not soon forget.
