Cuetlaxochitl
Euphorbia pulcherrima… “very beautiful”

The poinsettia in the picture was a gift today from a good friend.  I was interested to know how it got its name. I expected to find that a guy from San Diego named Ecke had something to do with its discovery, development and naming.  I was wrong. You’ll like the story more if you search for it yourself.  Have fun.

Thanks, Jerral -- I have a charming story that I use in programs this time of year -- a delightful re-telling of the 'Legend of the Poinsettia" from Mexican fold lore -- by Italian-American writer Tomie DePaula-used it just today in a program for an AAUW chapter.

And thanks, too, for the photos of MESSIAH at FUMC the other evening -- I had no idea who was there -- seated behind the organ console and the bassoonist! It was a real joy and blessing to be engaged with that work once more.

Peace
C
