Reminder:
STARGAZING, 2004
--for my mother, Sandra Johnson (1947-2004)
By Eric Johnson
All I saw
I must confess
Were stars
Not the known
Constellations
Cassiopeia
Chained
To her throne
That hunter
Orion
Arching his bow
Perhaps
A cluster
A shotgun blast
Through black
Velvet or sleep
But no zodiac signs
Not even
The snapping
Claws
of Cancer--
Just stars
And
That was all.
