Nancy’s Street

I went walking this morning… on Nancy’s Street in Rockville, Maryland.
The street is like all others.  Houses built at a time all together so they
look alike except each has the markings of an individual owner…
something about it that says, “This is mine, and I am different from all
other neighbors. See the difference and be glad I live on your street.

All of the houses are at least fifty years old, three living room windows, a bathroom
and a bedroom window all on the street side.  A boy on a scooter guards one house,
otherwise, all except one, which is getting a new roof today, are sitting surrounded
by autumnal colors, waiting for the first snow of winter to dispel warmth and they say
to all of us who visit here, “We’ll be here next year… where will you be?”
