The natural order of things

On my walk around our hill today, I tried to understand Fibonacci sequencing in the arrangement of leaves along the stems of plants by photographing and studying the unfurling new fronds on fern palms. I gave up trying to understand the math through observation and decided to check Wikipedia… and I learned that the sequencing is an arrangement which ensures the most efficient gathering of sunlight and rain.  Wow!  Life is good.
