Cityscape… Urban Landscape… Up-Town...

Up Town Center in Hillcrest is in the process of reinventing itself month by month, week-by-week, and day-by-day.  My favorite Starbucks sits in the middle of the renovation with only vague hints about what the final result will be.  The architect tilts more toward Piet Mondrian than toward that other Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. Mysteries abound in the central square.  Six identical cross structures that might seem less out of place on Golgatha and panels of color, red and blue placed clearly by design as trim for buildings are beginning to suggest a theme, but it hasn’t been defined yet.  I came across a panel with screws that suggest symmetry but not uniformity.  A tiny timid not-quite-toadstool sort of fungus has begun to grow in a denuded planter that once held shrubs. The rose and the bird of paradise flower are from the afternoon.… and the pumpkins herald Halloween.
