It's not pure beauty
only
that I found today
because
after I saw these summer lilies,
I came upon the dead bees;
and
a surge of sadness slowed
my enthusiasm
momentarily
with a reminder
that
Life is fragile.

Does anyone know the reason for the dying bees? I saw a number of them dead and dying in the yard over the past several days down on the peninsula. Is it normal? Will it affect pollination?
