WHEN TREES TALK...

Dracaena Draco

Right out in public, in plain sight, the tree stands,
audaciously implying more than a tree should do,
the Agavaceae from Canary Islands goes at it.
Old enough to have learned at least a modicum
of modesty and decorum in open broad daylight,
Dracaena draco, the natives call it Dragon Tree,
lives in its native place to be two thousand years old.
There is enough of the boy in me yet not to allow
passing any kind of dragon without at least noticing,
so don’t expect me to walk past this one unaffected.
