In Baghdad yesterday President Obama visited a group of American soldiers. Just as he was about to begin speaking, a soldier in the back of the room shouted, “I love you.” The President shouted instantly, without thinking, “I love you back.” At that moment, as I listened to the National Public Radio recording of the brief exchange of affection, I was as proud of our soldiers and of our country as I have been in a long time.
