HALLOWEEN COMES EARLY TO VALLEY STREAM

Halloween has its origins in religion, so it’s fitting that the Virgin Mary watches this collection of ghouls and goblins from her niche at the corner of the yard.

In San Diego jack-o-lanterns show up on porches a few days before the last day of October, but other than that and a candy glut in supermarkets, Halloween is not a big deal. Another house on the street where I took this picture had trimmed its shrubs to make them look like monsters.
